The fall of 2004 the doors of the new elementary addition were opened. Seven new classrooms, a new computer lab, music room, gym, library, and offices were added. The elementary has 3 sections of each class except for the 5th and 6th grade classes. Classrooms are now available when the need arises to add more sections. One of the spare classrooms is now serving as a science lab. There is a special room for the Title 1 math and TAG programs. |

| The new entrance to the elementary is bright with color and light. Students enjoy the bright pattern on the floor. Mr. Larsen, the elementary principal is shown greeting guests at the open house. The new elementary offices are located to the left as you enter the building. | |

| A reading nook is a popular place for students in the new library. The new area houses books for all the grade levels and has 5 computers for the students to use. Carol Wilken, the elementary librarian enjoys reading to students. | |

The new computer lab holds
26 computers. The students use the computers to learn keyboarding
skills, practice math skills, do research on the internet, and word
processing. The lab is located behind the library. The new instrumental and vocal music room boasts acoustical tile in the ceiling, a special practice room and a storage for instruments and music. The hall, pictured on the left, leads to the 5th and 6th grade classrooms. There is also an entrance to the new gym in this hall. |

| The new gymnasium has bleachers with a seating capacity of 300. The gym is used not only for physical education classes, but community youth sports activities. The cardinal mascot graces the floor and the gym features a scoreboard. | |
| Other improvements made to the existing building included, enclosing the individual classrooms in the lower and middle pods, new carpeting, and remodeling the old offices into a conference room and space for the area educational personnel. | |
| All of the food for the elementary is prepared at the elementary.
Dietitian, Jnelle Keysor plans the menus and her staff of cooks serve
the meals. The resource room in the elementary has more space and is now located next to the Title 1 Reading room. There are now two art teachers, which helps schedule all classes into the art room. It features storage for art projects and child friendly sinks for clean-up. |

| Classrooms have whiteboards, computers, and learning centers. Students participate in the accelerated reading program at all grade levels. | |

The money for the elementary playground was raised through donations, fundraisers, and school funding. The labor to construct the playground was all volunteered by parents and community members as well as faculty. |
